This story is from Christina, a 25-year-old dance teacher in Boston, as told to Raz:
This was my fourth date with Matt. A co-worker had set us up, and he seemed nice enough. We’d done some fun activities: ice skating and dancing. And he was six years older than me, so I assumed he was more mature than the guys I’m used to dating.
I’d invited him over to my place for dinner. I actually cooked, which is a big deal for me! We had good conversation and good laughs, and my roommate even gave me a sly thumbs up.
We soon found our way to my bedroom, and yes, we had sex. He stayed in bed with me a while and we continued talking as we had before. He still seemed like a really nice guy, and I hadn’t experienced that in a while.
While we were still naked in my bed and he was stroking my hair, he said very calmly, “I don’t think we should see each other anymore.”
Excuse me? I mean, I wasn’t necessarily sold on the guy, but he might have picked a better time to tell me!
I asked him to leave immediately. He threw on his clothes and motioned for a hug before he left, which I vehemently denied. I made it clear to my co-worker that he was not to set me up with any of his other friends.
